UCLA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was presented with this 1990 UCLA Alumnus of the Year award. Abdul-Jabbar, who wrapped up his historic pro career after the 1988-89 NBA season, played three seasons of varsity ball for John Wooden and the UCLA Bruins. He led the Bruins to NCAA titles in each of his three seasons, knocking off Dayton, North Carolina, and Purdue in the championship games while winning the Final Four Most Outstanding Player award in each season. A consummate Hall of Famer, Abdul-Jabbar was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1995 and to the College Basketball Hall of Fame upon its opening in 2006. This UCLA Alumnus of the Year award measures 6.75 inches tall with a base of 4.25 x 1.5 inches. A gold coin is suspended in the award, with “UCLA Alumni Award for Excellence” etched on the coin in high relief. Printed below the coin is “Kareem Abdul-Jabbar ’69 / 1990 Alumnus of the Year” and a UCLA Alumni Association logo. This award comes with a LOA signed by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
