United States Women’s National Team icon Michelle Akers was presented with this American flag after the USWNT defeated Canada 5-0 in the final game of the 1991 CONCACAF Women’s Championship in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The United States dominated this tournament to an incredible degree, outscoring their opponents 49-0 in five games. The United States won games by scores of 12-0, 12-0, 10-0, and 10-0 before meeting Canada in the tournament final. Akers scored a tournament-high 11 goals, foreshadowing her Golden Boot effort in the 1991 FIFA Women’s World Cup later that summer. Akers scored three goals in the final against Canada, with Kristine Lilly and April Heinrichs rounding out the scoring with a goal apiece.

This American flag was presented to Akers after the tournament’s final game, honoring the outstanding USWNT and their championship performance. The flag displays some wear, with several rips present in the fabric. The flag is accompanied by a LOA from Michelle Akers.  Please note that a portion of the proceeds shall benefit the Michelle Akers Horse Rescue & Outreach Inc.
