The United States won the 1991 FIFA Women’s World Cup, which was held in China, and Michelle Akers was the team’s unquestionable standout star. The U.S. reached the knockout stage of the tournament after winning three straight contests, outscoring its opponents 11-2. In the quarterfinals, the United States shutout Chinese Taipei, as Akers scored a remarkable five goals. After defeating Germany in the semifinals, the U.S. faced off against Norway in the final. Akers again was the difference, scoring both U.S. goals in a 2-1 victory, including the game-winner at the 78-minute mark.

Offered here is a 1991 10K gold FIFA World Cup championship ring presented to Michelle Akers, featuring red, white and blue stones on the face, while “WORLD CHAMPIONS” reads above the U.S. Soccer logo. One side of the ring displays the FIFA logo, while “CHINA 1991” appears on the opposite side along with the image of a trophy. Engravings inside the band include the initials “M.A.S.” and “NO. 10” as well as a 10K mark. This ring, which shows some wear, is an approximate size 7 ½ and weighs approximately 8.4 grams. This item comes with a LOA from Michelle Akers and a portion of the proceeds shall benefit the Michelle Akers Horse Rescue and Outreach Inc.
