In the quarterfinals, the United States shutout Chinese Taipei, as Akers scored a remarkable five goals. After defeating Germany in the semifinals, the U.S. faced off against Norway in the final. Akers again was the difference, scoring both U.S. goals in a 2-1 victory, including the game-winner at the 78-minute mark.
