United States Women’s National Soccer Team icon Michelle Akers was issued this white Team USA jersey during the inaugural FIFA Women’s World Cup in 1991. Hosted by China, the first global showcase of women’s soccer belonged entirely to the USWNT. Akers spearheaded the formidable attack of the United States, scoring 10 goals to claim the tournament’s Golden Boot award. Akers netted five times in the USWNT’s 7-0 demolition of Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinal round. In the tournament final against Norway, Akers tallied both goals for the United States in a 2-1 victory. The game-winning goal came with just two minutes left in the match as Akers exerted her considerable will against an overmatched Norwegian backline to claim the inaugural FIFA Women’s World Cup championship.

Akers was issued this offered jersey during the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 1991. The jersey is white, with red, white, and blue stripes on the right shoulder. Akers’ number “10” is printed on the chest and back in blue numerals, while “AKERS-STAHL” is printed across the back shoulders in the same fashion. A “USWNT” patch is sewn on the left chest and an Adidas logo is applied to the collar. Two Adidas tags are located on the back inside collar. Akers has signed the chest of this jersey in black marker, inscribing “#10” in addition to her signature. This jersey comes with a LOA signed by Michelle Akers herself. A portion of the proceeds shall benefit the Michelle Akers Horse Rescue and Outreach Inc.
