As the heart of the Chicago’s “Monsters of the Midway” 1980’s teams, Mike Singletary blazed a path that made him one of the greatest players in the history of the Bears franchise. Singletary played in 10 Pro Bowls, was a three-time NFC Player of the Year and was the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year in 1985 and 1988. He led the Bears defense when the team won Super Bowl XX and was a shoe-in for the Football Hall of Fame.

This was the jersey worn during his final season in the NFL, specifically during his final home game at Soldier Field on December 13th game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and again two weeks later in his regular season finale against the Dallas Cowboys at Texas Stadium. Singletary led the Bears defense as the Bears pounded Pittsburgh 30-6. Singletary’s navy mesh home jersey has Singletary’s number “50” on the chest in white and orange applique. A special “1981-1992 Singletary” combination diamond and square patch is sewn on the left chest in honor of his final season. This marks the first and only time that a football player wore a jersey with his own commemorative retirement patch while still actively playing. A Wilson label with a size “44” hangtag is sewn in the lower left front tail and “Pittsburgh 12/13/92” has been hand written in black marker. Each sleeve has his number “50” and stripes in white and orange applique and the left sleeve has the initials “GSH” in honor of “Papa Bear, George Halas. The back of the jersey has a navy nameplate with “SINGLETARY” above his number “50” in orange and white applique. The Hall of Famer has signed the “5” in black marker adding “HOF 98.” The jersey shows moderate game use with some light staining, loose threads and snagging to the mesh visible throughout. This jersey comes with a LOA from Mike Singletary for the game use and has been photo matched by Sports Investors.
