Calvin Murphy was listed at 5’9” and 165 pounds, but the diminutive (by NBA standards) guard played much bigger, averaging 20 or more points per game in five different seasons, including a career-high 25.6 PPG in 1977-78. One of the greatest free throw shooters in league history, Murphy recorded a .958 free throw percentage in 1980-81 as part of his career FT% mark of .892. For his career, Murphy scored 17,949 points (17.9 PPG) in 1,002 games played and averaged 1.5 steals per contest. He was named to the Hall of Fame in 1993.

Presented here is Murphy’s 10K gold 1993 Basketball Hall of Fame induction ring, featuring a single round brilliant .30 karat diamond set within a synthetic ruby. Murphy lost his original ring and ordered this offered replacement ring which was made to the same specifications as his original. This has been in Murphy's possession and was treasured for many years. “BASKETBALL HALL OF FAME” reads around the perimeter in relief lettering. One side of the ring features a crest of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame below the year 1993. The opposite side displays the name “MURPHY” along with an image of two players in action. Manufacturer and 10K marks appear inside the band of this approximate size 9 ring. This item weighs approximately 34.4 grams. This ring comes with a LOA from Calvin Murphy.

Please note that this lot has a 25% Buyer’s Premium (28% if payment is made using a credit card and/or is not paid within 10 days of invoice). Goldin Auctions will be donating 5% of the winning bid price to The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
