Michael Jordan surprised the sports world by announcing his retirement from the NBA prior to the start of the 1993-94 season. Though he led his Chicago Bulls to the first of their “3-Peat” championships, Jordan expressed a lack of desire to play basketball and the tragic murder of his father as the reasons behind his surprise decision. Jordan then embarked on a new career – baseball. In February of 1994, Jordan signed a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox and reported to spring training in Florida. Jordan was assigned to the AA Birmingham Barons, where he finished the season with a .202 average, three home runs and 51 RBI. This offered Louisville Slugger M216 model bat was used by Jordan during the 1994 season and is un-cracked, showing moderate use. The barrel is stamped with “MICHAEL JORDAN  CHICAGO WHITE SOX” and Jordan’s famous number “45” is hand written on the knob end in silver marker. The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B16109) for the game use and has been graded a solid GU 8.
