Future Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant was selected out of Lower Merion High School as the 13th overall 1996 NBA draft pick by the Charlotte Hornets. His contract was immediately flipped to the Lakers (with Vlade Divac heading the other way). Bryant played in 76 games for the Lakers during his rookie year, coming off the bench to average 7.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3 assists per 36 minutes. Bryant’s rise was extraordinary, and by his sophomore year he'd already picked up the first of an eventual 18 NBA All-Star nods. The lifelong Laker, who became one of the sports world's most adored figures, played through the end of the 2015-2016 season. On January 26, 2020, a tragic accident claimed the life of Kobe Bryant. He was selected for posthumous induction to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Graded GEM MT 10 by PSA. Hall of Famer, in a very desirable and scarce Rookie Card appearance. Among a total of just over 400 copies recorded in PSA's census reporting, barely fifteen percent have been awarded this unimprovable grading assessment. The offered card stands as a super-premium, top-tier memorial to its subject's greatness and character. Gem Mint condition.
