The 1996 United States Olympic women’s soccer team was made up of some of the finest players in the sport, including Michelle Akers, Mia Hamm, Brandi Chastain, Julie Foudy and Carla Overbeck. Allowing only three total goals, the U.S. finished the Olympic Games with an undefeated record that included four wins and one draw. A 2-1 victory over China in the final gave the Americans the Gold medal, the first ever as women’s soccer made its Olympic debut in 1996.
Offered here is a 1996 Atlanta Olympics soccer 10K gold ring presented to Michelle Akers, featuring the Olympic rings on the face center, with “U.S. SOCCER 1996 GOLD” reading around the outer perimeter. One shank displays the 1996 Olympics logo, while the opposite side of the ring reads “XXVI OLYMPIAD USA”.
