United States midfielder Michelle Akers wore this uniform during the United States Women’s National Soccer Team’s victory over China in the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics women’s soccer tournament and has been photo matched. This was the first time women’s soccer was contested on the Olympic level. The Stars and Stripes beat China 2-1 in the final after goals from Shannon MacMillan and Tiffeny Milbrett powered the USA to gold. Akers played all 90 minutes of the final in midfield, instigating attacks and protecting her defensive line with trademark intensity. Akers scored one goal in the tournament, a crucial penalty conversion in the semifinals against Norway that preceded MacMillan’s golden goal winner.

This offered uniform consists of a white USWNT home jersey and shorts, both worn and signed by Akers.
