Throughout the 1990’s and 2000’s, Chipper Jones was among the best third baseman in baseball, a perennial All-Star who could hit for both power and average. In 2018, Jones was honored with induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, finding a spot in Cooperstown on his first ballot. The Atlanta Braves superstar compiled a .303 batting average for his career while crushing 468 home runs. Jones led the Braves to a World Series title in 1995, and claimed the 1999 National League MVP Award with a Triple Crown slash of .319/45/110. Jones, the 2008 National League batting champ, retired after the 2012 MLB season.

Offered in this lot is a Chipper Jones Louisville Slugger R161 World Series model bat signed by 28 members of the 1996 New York Yankees. The Braves faced the Yankees in the 1996 World Series, reaching their second consecutive Fall Classic after defeating the Cleveland Indians the year prior. Unfortunately for the Atlanta faithful, the 1996 Braves could not replicate their magic of the previous season, falling to the Yankees in a six game World Series. The signatures on this bat include the Hall of Famers Joe Torre, Wade Boggs, and Tim Raines. The remaining signatures include Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Bernie Williams, Joe Girardi, Andy Pettitte, Paul O’Neill, Tino Martinez, Chris Chambliss, Cecil Fielder, Jimmy Key, Darryl Strawberry, John Wetteland, David Cone, Mariano Duncan, Dwight Gooden, Charlie Hayes, Pat Kelly, Graeme Lloyd, Dave Pavlas, Dave Polley, Willie Randolph, Kenny Rogers, Luis Sojo, Mel Stottlemyre, and David Weathers. The signatures have been written in silver marker on this black bat, and Jones’ number “10” is written on the knob in silver marker. This item comes with a PSA/DNA STICKER ONLY (Y07254).
