In 1997, Alex Rodriguez was just beginning the career that would end 22 years later as a member of the ultra-exclusive 600 Home Run Club. On August 21, A-Rod’s Mariners were facing the Indians at the Kingdome. In the bottom of the 2nd inning he took a Bartolo Colon pitch to deep left field for 19th home run of 1997 and just the 60th of his career. In his second full season in the majors, Rodriguez would go on to hit 23 that year, establishing himself as one of the best young sluggers to come around in a generation.
