This bat dates to Eddie Murray’s last season in the Majors. Angels owner Gene Autrey was proud to have Steady Eddie wear an Anaheim uniform for his last hurrah in the Majors, and at some point during the season had the Hall of Famer sign a game used bat for him. Swinging this bat, Murray added the last round trippers to his career total of 504 in 1997, ranking him just second to Mickey Mantle as the best switch hitter to ever play the game. Eddie’s 1997 Hillerich & Bradsby M275 model bat shows good use with a cracked and secured handle. The bat is stained Angel red and has “EDDIE MURRAY” and “ANAHEIM ANGELS” boldly stamped into the barrel. The barrel displays several ball marks and abrasions while the handle has a light coat of pine tar. A ring of adhesive secures the handle crack and his number “33” is handwritten on the knob in black marker. The Hall of Famer has signed the barrel in bold black marker, adding, “#33.” This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B17859) for the game use and a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication for the signature. This bat comes from the personal collection of the late Gene Autry and a LOA from his widow Jacqueline Autry will accompany this item.
