After opening his career with six straight all-star selections and the 1993 National League Rookie of the Year, Hall of Famer Mike Piazza was traded twice in 1998 as he ultimately ended up with the New York Mets. Piazza paid immediate dividends for the Mets as he batted .348 with 23 home runs and 76 RBI in only 109 games and in 1999, his first full season in Queens, Piazza hit 40 home runs, had 124 RBI and batted .303.
This offered American Baseball Cap (ABC) batting helmet was worn by Piazza in his first two seasons with the Mets. This size 7 3/8 helmet is all blue and has the Mets’ interlocking “NY” logo decal affixed on the front in orange. “PIAZZA” is in white on a clear sticker that is on the tip of the brim. The back of the helmet has the ABC decal and a vertical “PIAZZA” sticker affixed. The inside of the helmet has a leather covered padding around the head band, with gray foam padding on the back and on the inside of the ear flap, which is on the left ear. This helmet displays moderate game use and comes with a LOA from MEARS.
