Manny Ramirez was coming off an incredible season in 1998 when he hit 45 home runs, drove in 145 with a .294 batting average for the resurgent Cleveland Indians. Ramirez led the American League with 165 RBI, a .663 slugging percentage and a 1.105 OPS. Ramirez also hit 44 home runs and batted a lofty .333 as he led the Indians back to the playoffs.
