Offered here is a late 19th century portrait of Pittsburgh Pirates first baseman Jake Beckley. This painting can be narrowed between 1888-1896 as Beckley is painted in his Pirates uniform. The sepia toned portrait is in a 3-inch diameter with Beckley looking to his left wearing collared jersey, a tie and a dark cap. The button-down jersey says “PITTSBURG”. The portrait is housed in a green velvet holder that measures 3 ½ x 4 ½ inches that opens up and can lock with a latch on the top. The outer casing has a dark brown leather covering. A wonderful 19th century baseball artifact.
