Recently retired shortstop and third baseman Alex Rodriguez wore this blue alternate Texas Rangers’ jersey in 2001, his first season with the Rangers. Rodriguez recorded his first 50 home run season in 2001, leading the American League with 52. Additionally, A-Rod knocked in 135 runs and maintained a .318 batting average as a lackluster pitching staff doomed the Rangers to a third place finish in the American League West. Rodriguez retired in August of 2016, finishing his legendary career with 696 home runs, 3,115 hits, and 2,086 RBI.

This blue jersey is the Rangers home alternate shirt from the 2001 season. The lack of 9/11 patches or memorials suggests it was worn before September of 2001. Additionally, the American League 100th Anniversary patch is absent, as the Rangers only wore that patch on their primary home and road jerseys. However, a Texas flag patch is sewn on the right sleeve above a Rawlings logo. “TEXAS” is sewn across the chest in white, gray, blue and red tackle twill. “RODRIGUEZ” and “3” are sewn on the back in white, blue and red tackle twill. A-Rod’s name is sewn over a matching blue nameplate and beneath an MLB logo. A Rawlings tag with attached size “50”, “1 INCH EXTRA LENGTH”, “2 INCH EXTRA LENGTH” and “SET 1 2001” flags are sewn on the inside of the front left tail. White bands ring the sleeve openings, and a Velcro patch is applied between the second and third buttons. This jersey, which shows light to moderate wear. Rodriguez has signed his name in black marker on the middle of the “3” on the back. This jersey, which shows light to moderate wear and comes with a LOA from 100% Authentic for the game use and a LOA from Beckett Authentication for the signature.
