Atlanta Braves ace pitcher Greg Maddux wore this jersey during the latter portion of the 2001 MLB season. This jersey was worn during Game 4 of the 2001 NLCS, an 11-4 loss to the eventual World Series champion Arizona Diamondbacks. Maddux, a four time Cy Young Award winner, had an uncharacteristically shaky outing, surrendering six runs (four earned) in three innings to pick up the loss. However, Maddux did double in his only plate appearance. Besides this outing, Maddux had a nearly flawless 2001, finishing with a 17-11 record to go along with a 3.05 ERA in a season dominated by offense. Maddux, a 355 game winner, retired after the 2008 season and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2014 on his first ballot.

This white, button down home jersey has “Braves” and a tomahawk sewn on the chest of the jersey in red, blue, and yellow tackle twill. “MADDUX” is sewn across the back shoulders in blue tackle twill over a matching white nameplate. His number, “31”, is sewn on the back in red and blue tackle twill. An Eddie Mathews number “41” memorial patch is sewn on the left sleeve above a Russell logo. Blue and red piping encircles the collar and sleeve openings, and runs down the chest parallel to the buttons. An American flag patch, a memorial for 9/11, is sewn on the back outside collar. A Russell Athletic tag and a “1-01” tag are sewn on the front left tail of the jersey. Size “46” and “2[inches] Extra Length” flags are attached to the Russell tag. Maddux signed the “3” digit in silver marker, adding the inscription “Game Used” to his signature. This item comes with a Tristar hologram (7616811) for the signature and a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema for game use and has been photo matched to Game 4 of the NLCS by Resolution Photomatching.
