Powered by the Golden Boot-winning striker Ronaldo Nazario de Lima, Brazil won their unprecedented fifth World Cup title in 2002. Ronaldo scored both of Brazil’s goals in the FIFA World Cup Final, a 2-0 victory over Germany in Japan’s International Stadium. Brazil won all three of their group stage games and allowed only a single goal in the knockout stages, during a 2-1 victory over England in the quarterfinals. Rivaldo, the second striker in Brazil’s 3-4-1-2 formation, scored five goals in the tournament and won three Man of the Match awards. This was Brazil’s second World Cup title in three tries, with the CONMEBOL leaders claiming the FIFA World Cup title in the United States in 1994.
Offered in this lot is the 2002 FIFA World Cup Trophy originally presented to Brazilian Football Confederation official Alexandre Silva Da Silveira. This Bertoni trophy is gold in color and stands on a dark stone pedestal. “FIFA WORLD CUP” is etched in high relief on the base of the trophy, while a plaque is affixed to the pedestal. Etched in high relief on this plaque is “2002 FIFA WORLD CUP”, as well as “Korea Japan” and the World Cup logo. This trophy comes in the original blue presentation box. The trophy is accompanied by a LOA from Da Silveira.
