During the last decade of the 20th century, Seattle’s Edgar Martinez made himself into the game’s first great designated hitter. The 2-time AL batting champ won 5 Silver Slugger Awards, the last coming in 2003 when he hit .294 despite being sidelined the last half of the season by a broken toe. Martinez was hitting above the .300 mark midseason when he made the last of his 7 All-Star Game appearances. This Louisville Slugger M356 model bat was used by the Hall of Famer during the 2003 Midsummer Classic. The bat shows heavy use and is un-cracked. There are many ball marks and abrasions on the barrel along with bat rack paint streaks. The handle has been taped to enhance the grip and a coat of pine tar applied all the way to the center brand. Martinez’s number “11” and bats specs are handwritten on the knob end and the Hall of Famer has signed the barrel in black marker, adding, “2003 All Star Game.” This bat comes with a LOA from MEARS (316588) for the game use and has been graded a perfect A10, a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B18436) for the game use and has been graded a perfect GU 10 and a MLB Authenticated hologram (MT00240933) for the signature.
