Breaking the 86-year "Curse of the Bambino" is a Herculean feat deserving of the finest reward—and so the Red Sox franchise pulled out all the stops and spared no expense for their luxurious 2004 championship rings. Rather than go with 10K-gold or 14K-gold, they splurged on 18K-gold. And according to a 2008 Gemologist Certificate of Appraisal, this showpiece also boasts 74 diamonds (189 points total of 14 princess-cut and 60 round brilliant-cut), 10 natural rubies (2 cts.) and 4 synthetic blue sapphires. The "estimated retail replacement value" is appraised at $16,300—and that's purely its inherent material value, without even taking into account its extraordinary historical significance! Indeed, an endearing testament to the monumental achievement is engraved inside the band, "86 YEARS / 10-27/04," while the shank designs celebrate Fenway Park, the Championship Trophy, the BoSox logo and the "Greatest Comeback in History / 8 Straight." The opposite shank has a raised “REESE” over a raised Fenway Park with the World Series trophy and “3” with the caption “4-0 SWEEP”.

The Jostens size 9 ½ ring and nearly 75 grams rates sparkling NM condition and was awarded to infielder Calvin “Pokey” Reese, who closed out his 8-season Major League career on the high of this championship glory. His signed LOA, which accompanies this ring reads, "I, Calvin “Pokey” Reese acknowledge that this is my original one and only 2004 Boston Red Sox World Series Ring with the original box." Accompanied by the original wooden presentation box (6-1/2" x 7-1/2" x 4-1/4", EX-MT) with a frosted plexiglas "2004 World Series" lid and a recessed, enameled W.S. logo. As a point of reference on value, it's worth noting that a 2004 Red Sox player's ring for pitcher Jimmy Anderson sold at auction in 2011 for over $50,000, Johnny Pesky's 2004 ring realized $69,000 in 2014.
