New York Mets third baseman David Wright wore this Mets alternative jersey during his 2004 rookie season. Wright had a strong rookie season, batting .293 with 14 home runs, 40 RBI during 69 games. 2004, Wright was voted "This Year In Baseball Awards" Rookie of the Year. First introduced in 1998, the black, six-button alternative jersey features "Mets” in cursive script across the chest in blue-on-white-on orange tackle twill. The number 5 appears on the chest and back of the jersey in blue-on-white-on orange tackle twill. A circular Mets skyline logo with the embroidered name of deceased Mets announcer “BOB MURPHY” appears on the jersey's left sleeve. A Shea Stadium 40th Anniversary Patch with embroidery below in memory of Tug McGraw reading "Ya Gotta Believe-Tug," the rallying cry for the 1973 Mets, appears on the right sleeve. A Majestic MLB Authentic Collection manufacturing tag with a size "46" and "set 2 2004" flags are sewn on the inside of the front left tail of the jersey. "WRIGHT" appears on the back of the jersey in blue-on-white-on orange tackle twill. The jersey displays light signs of game use and comes with an LOA from MEARS for the game use.
