Not many rookies had such lofty expectation placed on him as Joe Maurer did in 2004. Mauer was called up to replace perennial All-Star A. J. Pierzynski when he was traded, and the newcomer did a fine job, hitting .308 until injuries sidelined him for the remainder of the 2004 season. This offered Rawlings 491B model bat shows excellent use with a handle crack. There are several ball marks visible on the barrel and the lower handle and knob has been taped to enhance the grip. Mauer’s number “7” is hand written on the knob in black marker. The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B16176) for the game use and has been graded a solid GU 8.5.
