Considered by many as the greatest female soccer player of all time, American star Michelle Akers compiled a simply incredible playing career. Akers was a key member of the championship team of the 1991 FIFA Women’s World Cup, where she scored a remarkable 10 goals in six games. She scored both U.S. goals in the final – a 2-1 win over Norway. Akers also was a member of the American team that won the Women’s World Cup in 1999, as well as the gold medal-winning United States squad in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. In all, Akers scored 105 career goals in international play.
Offered here is a Balfour 10K gold 2004 National Soccer Hall of Fame induction ring that was presented to Michelle Akers, the face of which is highlighted by a soccer ball on a shield, with “NATIONAL SOCCER HALL OF FAME” reading around the perimeter. A U.S. Soccer logo appears on each shank. The name “Michelle Akers” appears inside the band, as well as a “BAL 10K” mark. This ring is an approximate size 7 and weighs approximately 7.0 grams.
