The old Yankee Stadium had seen a lot of baseball history since it opened its doors in 1923. A great trivia question is “who hit the first home run in Yankee Stadium?” – the answer being Babe Ruth, Opening Day 1923. A somewhat harder question is: “who hit the last home run in Yankee Stadium?” That would be Alex Rodriguez, September 17, 2008, an 8th inning solo shot off Scott Linebrink of the White Sox – and this is the bat that A-Rod used to hit that historic final home run. The Louisville Slugger C271L model bat in un-cracked and shows tremendous use with many ball marks and white leather scuffs on the barrel. Many abrasions from contact with the ground and other equipment cover the barrel along with cleat impressions. The handle has a coat of pine tar and the bat’s specs are stamped into the knob. Rodriguez has signed the bat and inscribed, “Game Used Last HR – Bat Yankee Stadium 9/17/2008 vs. Linebrick” in silver marker. This bat comes with MLB Authenticated hologram (LH145744) for the game use and STICKER ONLY from JSA for the signature.
