Pitt Panthers star running back LeSean McCoy wore this blue Pitt home jersey during the 2008 Brut Sun Bowl against the Oregon State Beavers. In a game defined by a pair of monumental defenses, the PAC-10 school emerged the 3-0 victors at the Sun Bowl. McCoy, the game’s leading rusher, churned out 85 yards on the ground for the 18th-ranked Panthers. McCoy had an unbelievable season for the Panthers, rushing for 1,488 yards and 21 touchdowns in his second and final collegiate season. McCoy’s season reached its zenith in a 19-15 “Backyard Brawl” victory over West Virginia at Heinz Field in late November, with the future NFL star’s 183 rushing yards and two fourth quarter touchdowns handing Pitt an iconic rivalry victory over Pat White, Noel Devine, and the Mountaineers. In only 25 career games with the Panthers, “Shady” rushed for 2,816 yards and 35 touchdowns before his selection by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft.
