Although Miguel Cabrera became a household name when he helped lead the Marlins to the World Championship in his rookie year of 2003, 2010 was the season Cabrera really broke out. Case in point is offensive onslaught he unleashed against the White Sox, Yankees and Blue Jays that August. In that five day period Cabrera hit five home runs to bring his career total to 240 round trippers. The first came on August 15th in the form of a solo shot off Chicago’s Sergio Santos. The second came on the following night at Yankee Stadium when he hit one off Joba Chamberlain in the 9th inning. The third and fourth home runs came off Dustin Moseley on August 18th. The next day he tagged Phil Hughes for a 1st inning two run shot. The homers helped Cabrera win his first RBI crown and make him runner up for the AL MVP Award.

This two-tone SAM bat was used by Cabrera to hit those five home runs. Cabrera was forced to retire this lucky bat after he cracked the handle in the August 26 game at Toronto. Cabrera’s SAM model MC1 bat shows tremendous game use and has been cracked. The barrel is covered with ball marks and stitch impressions and there are scuff marks from contact with other bats and storage. The handle has a moderate coat of pine tar both ends are marked with various specification codes. By all looks and appearances, this was one of Cabrera’s favorite bats and has seen some heavy game use, highlighted by the five home runs attributed to it. To mark its significance for posterity, Cabrera has signed the barrel in gold, adding “Career Home Run #236-240”. This is a true gamer from one of the 21st Century’s greatest sluggers. The bat comes with a PSA/DNA LOA (1B14014) and a MLB hologram (LH425984) for the game use and an LOA from JSA (Z56862) for the signature.
