Legendary defenseman Sergei Gonchar wore this white Team Russia jersey during the Russians Group B game against Slovakia on February 18th 2010, at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Gonchar recorded 20 minutes and 46 seconds of ice time, the most of any Russian player. Slovakia ended the game on top, triumphing by a score of 2-1 in a shootout. Gonchar played in all four of Russia’s games during the 2010 Olympics, which ended for Russia with a loss to Team Canada in the quarterfinals.
This white jersey has a Russian crest patch sewn on the chest above “??????”, which is sewn on the chest in red and navy blue tackle twill. “GONCHAR” is written across the back shoulders of the jersey in blue tackle twill over a matching white nameplate. Gonchar’s number “55” is sewn on the back in blue and red tackle twill and on the sleeves in white and red tackle twill. A blue Nike swoosh patch is sewn on the right chest. This jersey is accented with red and blue, and a faint Russian-themed pattern is printed on the ends of the sleeves. Size “62” is printed on the back inside collar, and an IIHF tag is sewn beneath it. Gonchar has signed the second “5” on the back of the jersey in silver marker. This item comes with a LOA from the NHLPA and a COA from steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (C99735). Also included in this lot is an 8 x 10 photograph of Gonchar signed in blue marker.
