In one of the most dramatic plays in World Series history, St. Louis Cardinals infielder David Freese came up to the plate in the bottom of the ninth inning in Game 6 of the 2011 World Series against Texas Rangers’ closer Neftali Feliz. The Cardinals were down 3-2 in the series and 7-5 in the game with two runners on base. Down to his last strike with a 1-2 count, Freeze promptly delivered a game-tying two-out triple that tied the game. Capping off Freeze’s incredible Game 6 heroics was his lead-off walk-off home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to force a Game 7 in which the Cardinals would win and earning Freese the World Series MVP.

Offered is the very baseball that Freese hit for the game-tying two-out triple that was just out of the reach of Rangers’ right fielder Nelson Cruz’s outstretched glove. This Rawlings baseball, as expected, displays outstanding use with the gold stamped Official Ball 2011 World Series smudged out and a black bat mark. There are also dirt stains and other markings that show the game use of this ball. This baseball comes with a MLB Authenticated hologram (FJ 766214). Please note that MLB has recorded this baseball as a pitch in the dirt to Yadier Molina in the bottom of the ninth inning. This ball that Freese hit was not taken out of play until the first pitch to Molina, who followed Freese in the batting order. This baseball also comes with a LOA from Mears, who have documented that the ball was not taken out of play until Molina’s at-bat and is the very ball hit by Freese to force extra innings.
