There is nothing quite like the atmosphere of Opening Day in baseball. Opening Day is seen as the unofficial end to winter and the hope for all teams as they start their marathon season. Former New York closer Mariano Rivera managed to experience 19 of them during his illustrious career in Yankees’ pinstripes. While Mariano didn’t pitch in every Opening Day, the newly elected unanimous Hall of Famer wore this New York Yankees road jersey in his last appearance on Opening Day 2012 in Tampa.

This classic road gray jersey has been photo matched by Sports Investors Authentication to the April 6th game and features “NEW YORK” sewn on across the front in navy and white tackle twill. The Majestic label is sewn in the left front tail with size “46” and “2012” flags attached. A New York Yankees bar code label (0000001940) is affixed below. The back of this jersey has Rivera’s number “42” sewn on in navy and white tackle twill and the MLB logo patch is sewn on in navy, white and gray above the number. Adding to this already impressive lightly used gamer is Rivera’s signature and multiple inscriptions.

Rivera has signed his name in silver marker on the middle rung of the “4” and inscribed right below his name “Hall of Fame 2019”. Diagonally on the “4” is inscribed “1st unanimous Inductee 100%”. Inscribed on the “2” on the top in silver is “Exit Sandman”, while “Last Pitched Opening Day 4/6/12” is on the middle bar of the “2” and on the bottom rung of the “2” is inscribed “652 Saves”. This jersey comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (EK004938), which authenticates that Rivera wore this jersey on April 6th, 2012 during the season opener and a LOA from Steiner Sports (198930). Additionally, there is an LOA from Sports Investors Authentication, who have photo matched this jersey to the April 6th, 2012 game.
