Alex Rodriguez made history on September 20th, 2013 when he blasted his 24th career grand slam of San Francisco Giants pitcher George Kontos in the bottom of the seventh inning at Yankee Stadium. Rodriguez came into the game already tied with Lou Gehrig for the all-time lead in grand slams at 23 and his seventh inning blast right-center field put him in a class by himself. The home run, which broke a 1-1 tie and gave the Yankees the 5-1 victory, was also Rodriguez’s 654th career home run.
This is the very ball Rodriguez hit that left the Yankee Stadium field. This ball, which displays excellent game use, is an Official Major League Allen H. Selig stamped ball. Rodriguez has signed his name on the sweet spot in bold blue pen. On the panel to the south of AROD’s sweet spot autograph is handwritten fine-tipped black marker “24th Career Grand Slam Surpassing Lou Gehrig for Baseball’s All-Time Leader In Grand Slams 7th inn. off Kontos (S.F.) 9/20/13 Yankee Stadium“. This historic baseball comes with a signed LOA from Alex Rodriguez attesting that this is the ball that was hit for the record-breaking grand slam home run.
