It isn’t easy to follow up a Triple Crown season in baseball. Ask Carl Yastrzemski, Frank Robinson, or Joe Medwick how difficult it is to replicate those numbers, and their Triple Crown slash lines will tell the story. Miguel Cabrera had no such difficulties in 2013, hitting the exact same number of home runs (44), only two less RBI (137), and improving his batting average by 18 points, pushing it to an MLB-best .348. Cabrera won the American League MVP award for the second straight year in 2013, once again proving his mettle as one of the best players in the game. A sure-fire future Hall of Famer, Cabrera is steadily gaining on both the 500 home run and 3,000 hit marks.

This helmet was worn for eight games on the road during the 2013 season. The first photo matched instance of use came on May 21st, 2013, when Cabrera hit a home run and knocked in two RBI during a 5-1 win against Corey Kluber and the Cleveland Indians. This was the 333rd career blast for the Venezuelan slugger. Throughout the season, Cabrera wore this helmet on May 29th, June 10th, July 6th, August 9th, August 11th, August 25th, and September 25th. Cabrera homered in all of these games except the September 25th contest, finishing the eight contests with a .333 batting average, seven homers, and 14 RBI. His final home run in this helmet, hit on August 25th, was the 363rd of his career.

This size 7 5/8 navy blue helmet is made of high impact plastic, and the crown features six vents for ventilation. An orange Olde English “D” decal is applied to the front of the helmet, while Cabrera’s number “24” and the MLB logo are applied to the back. The flap on this right-handed batting helmet is located over the left ear. “JSG”, for Tigers clubhouse manager Jim Schmakel, is written inside the helmet in silver marker. Cabrera signed the brim of this helmet in silver marker, inscribing “2013 GU MVP Season”. This helmet comes with a MLB Authenticated hologram (EK862415), and it has been photo matched to the eight previously mentioned games by Resolution Photomatching. Additionally, there is a LOA from JSA for the signature.
