Ever since interleague play was introduced in 1997, there has always been the debate as to whether or not it was good for the game or just a gimmick. Baseball purists have argued against it while the other side enjoys seeing teams they normally wouldn’t see. The excitement generated between inter-city rivals like the Chicago Cubs/White Sox, San Francisco/Oakland and Los Angeles Dodgers/Angels cannot be disputed. Arguably, the biggest beneficiary of the interleague play involves the New York Mets and New York Yankees – The Subway Series.

Soon-to-be Hall of Famer Derek Jeter reveled in the annual Subway Series as the great shortstop played in 87 games against the Flushing 9 where he had a .363 batting average with 131 hits, including 13 home runs, 19 doubles and 44 RBI. This pinstripe uniform set was worn by Derek Jeter during his last two home games against the New York Mets on May 12th and May 13th, 2014. Jeter combined for three hits, a run scored and three walks in nine plate appearances over those two games.

This home uniform set has been photo matched by Sports Investors Authentication to the May 12th and 13th games. The jersey features the classic button-down pinstripe jersey that has the interlocking “NY” on the left front chest in sewn-on navy tackle twill. The Majestic label is sewn in the left front tail with size “46” and “2014” flags attached. A New York Yankees bar code label (0000004403) is affixed below. The back has Jeter’s number “2” sewn on in navy tackle twill. The jersey shows light game use with small stains and comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (HZ114632), which authenticates that Jeter wore this jersey during the May 13th, 2014 games and a LOA from Steiner Sports (211519) for the game use. The matching pinstripe pants have the Majestic label sewn inside the waistband. “#2 Jeter 35-40 36 OB ’14” is printed in black. The two snap buttons and zipper are present and working. The pants show heavy game use with large dirt stains on the back-right leg right front knee and shin area, plus other light dirt stains. These pants come with an MLB Authenticated hologram (HZ114633) which authenticates that Jeter wore these pants during the May 13th, 2014 game and a LOA from Steiner Sports (211520) for the game use. There is an additional LOA from Sports Investors Authentication, who have photo matched the jersey and pants during the May 13th, 2014 games.
