On June 18, 2015 the Tampa Bay Rays came into Washington, D.C. to face the Nationals. Though the Nats were playing heads-up ball and making a collective run for the NL East, all eyes were on right fielder Bryce Harper who was hitting the ball at a .344 clip. As he did all season, Harper didn’t disappoint, stroking a perfect clutch hit, a first inning RBI single off Chris Archer. Harper would go on to lead the NL in home runs (42), slugging (.649), on-base percentage (.460) and runs scored (118) as he was easily voted the leagues Most Valuable Player.
A photo (included with this lot) taken of Harper during the September 20, 2015 game show the Nationals star using this very bat. The Rawlings BAM34 model bat displays outstanding use and is un-cracked. This is one of only three PSA/DNA GU 10 Bryce Harper 2015 MVP season game used bats in PSA's database and as you’d expect from a Harper game used bat, the barrel is covered with ball marks with stitch impressions along with white leather ball scuffs and blue ink transfers. Two traits characteristic of Bryce Harper game used bats are present on this piece: a heavy coat of pine tar on the handle and center brand and a spiral of adhesive tape on the lower handle and knob, both used to enhance his grip. The date of manufacture “05/07/15,” order number “415,” year “15,” and Harper’s initials “BH” have been stamped into the knob. A photo matched gamer from Bryce Harper’s MVP season. The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B12605) for the game use and has been graded a perfect GU 10.
