Just a season removed from a 79-win season, the 2015 Mets – under manager Terry Collins – finished with a 90-72 regular season record, tops in the NL East. The Mets did it with pitching, as the young trio of Jacob deGrom, Matt Harvey and Noah Syndergaard combined for 36 victories. Not to be outdone by the youngsters on the staff, 42-year-old Bartolo Colon tied for the team lead (with deGrom) with 14 wins. Closer Jeurys Familia saved 43 games with a sterling 1.85 ERA. Offensively, Curtis Granderson led the way with 26 home runs, 98 runs scored and 91 walks. The Mets got past the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs to win the National League pennant before falling to the Kansas City Royals in the World Series.

Offered here is a 2015 New York Mets National League championship ring that was presented to Wally Backman, who spent nine years with the Mets during his career. Made of lustrium, it has a large blue enamel-filled NY logo highlights the face, set atop an image of a baseball field, with multiple CZs surrounding it. Relief lettering around the perimeter reads “NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONS”. One side of the ring displays an image of the New York City skyline, as “Mets” reads across it. The name “BACKMAN” appears at the top. An NLCS logo is represented on the opposite side, along with “NEW YORK” above and the year “2015” below. There is much detail on the inside of the band, including a listing of pennant-winning years of 2015, 2000, 1986, 1973 and 1969. Also shown is “NEW YORK” above an image of the NL championship trophy. This ring, marked © JOSTENS LTM, is an approximate size 10 ½ with the weight being an approximate 33.5 grams. The original hinged presentation box is included, which reads on etched glass “Mets 2015 N.L. CHAMPIONS”. This ring comes with a signed LOA from Wally Backman authenticating that this was his original ring presented to him.
