Toronto Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista wore this blue Jays jersey in 29 games during the 2016 MLB season -- including the infamous “Fight Night” game against the Texas Rangers on May 15th. Bautista went 1-3 with three RBI, a double, HBP, and stolen base in this game, a 6-5 Rangers win. In the eighth inning, Rangers pitcher Matt Bush plunked Bautista, possibly in retaliation for his emphatic bat flip against the Rangers in the 2015 Postseason. Two batters later, Justin Smoak’s grounder sent Bautista barreling to second base, with the six-time All-Star sliding aggressively through the bag and nearly making contact with Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor. Odor shoved Bautista when the Jays player returned to his feet, leading to an all-out, benches clearing brawl between the two American League rivals. Odor was suspended seven games for the incident while Bautista served a one-game ban; acting as the Jays Public Address announcer during his exile.

In addition to the “Fight Night” game, Bautista wore this jersey on August 2nd against the Houston Astros. Bautista hit his 300th career homer in this game, a solo homer off Lance McCullers in the third inning to open the scoring in Toronto’s 2-1 win. Bautista’s remaining games in this jersey include April 9th, 10th, 23rd, and 24th, May 11th, 17th, 19th, 22nd, and 29th, June 8th, 14th, 15th, and 16th, August 6th, 9th, 27th, 29th, and 30th, and September 5th, 10th, 11th, 14th, 15th, 17th, 18th, 20th, 21st, and 30th.

Bautista homered twice on April 9th for his first two homers of the season, taking Rick Porcello deep twice in an 8-4 loss to the Red Sox at home. These were the 287th and 288th homers of his career. Bautista homered again on April 24th, hitting a two-run shot off Oakland A’s starter Eric Surcamp in Toronto’s 6-3 home win for his fourth homer of the year. His next home run came on May 17th, plating the lone pair of runs in the Blue Jays 12-2 defeat to the Rays at Rogers Centre. This was his seventh homer of the season and it came off Chris Archer. Bautista added a solo home run off Phil Hughes on May 22nd in a 3-1 Blue Jays road win over the Twins and a two-run shot off David Price in an extra-inning defeat to the Red Sox at Rogers Centre on May 29th. Additional home runs came on August 29th, a solo homer off Orioles hurler Wade Miley at Camden Yards, and on September 21st, with Bautista hitting a solo home run in the top of the ninth off Mariners closer Edwin Diaz to even the score at one-all. His final homer in this jersey came on September 30th during a 5-3 defeat to the Red Sox at Fenway Park. Bautista took Porcello deep for a third time in 2016, crushing a two-run home run in the fifth inning for his 22nd homer of the season and the 308th of his career.

This offered Blue Jays jersey is a button-down blue alternate jersey with “BLUE JAYS” sewn across the chest in blue and white tackle twill. “BAUTISTA” is sewn across the back shoulders in white tackle twill. His number “19” is sewn on the back in blue and white tackle twill. A Blue Jays logo patch is sewn on the chest, while a Blue Jays 40th Anniversary patch is sewn on the left sleeve above a white Majestic logo. A Majestic size “42” tag is applied to the front left tail. This jersey comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (JB 778766) and a LOA from Sports Investors Authentication, who have photo matched the jersey to the noted games.
