An annual tradition in Major League Baseball that has emerged in the last few seasons is the Players’ Weekend. Gone are the traditional uniforms and they are replaced with unique styles and instead of the customary last name on the jerseys, they are replaced the players’ nickname. In 2019, MLB had the home teams wearing all white uniforms and the visiting teams wearing all black uniforms.
New York Mets rookie phenom Pete Alonso wore this all-white New York Mets batting helmet during the Players Weekend games against the Atlanta Braves at Citi Field in New York on August 23-25. This size 7 3/8 helmet has a white matte finish and the Mets’ interlocking “NY” decal affixed on the front in silver. The back of the helmet has “POLAR BEAR” in black and the MLB logo decal in black and white. There is a face guard attached to the lone ear flap on the left side. The Rawlings logo is sewn on the black interior padding. The helmet displays moderate game use and Alonso was wearing this helmet when he tied the Mets’ single season home run record when he hit his 41st home run during the August 24th game. This helmet comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (JB740813), authenticating that Alonso wore this helmet during the August 23-25 games.
