The renowned Québécois sculptor Leo Arbour created this magnificent bust of Babe Ruth. Born in Pointe-du-Lac in 1912, Arbour studied under the French-Canadian masters Léonce Cuvillier and Rodolphe Duguay as he honed his unique style of sculpting. Arbour’s magnificent sculptures have been displayed in countless Canadian museums, including the Syndicate d'initiative of Trois-Rivières. Arbour was active until shortly before his death in 2003. In 2001, Arbour was named a Knight of the National Order of Quebec. This bust of Ruth shows the Sultan of Swat from the chest up, dressed in his pinstriped Yankees home uniform. The bust has approximate dimensions of 24 x 20 inches. Etched on the back of this stunning wood sculpture is “L. Arbour”. This is a tremendous and rare display piece, with the vast majority of Arbour’s works currently located in museums and institutions.
