For 10 unforgettable summers, Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig formed the most fear and revered duo in baseball. During that decade stretch, the pair batted back-to-back in the Yankees lineup and belted a combined 771 home runs and won eight home run titles. No two teammates have so dominated the game as Ruth and Gehrig, and the two are forever linked in baseball lore. Their friendship and later animosity made headlines and their reconciliation on the field in Yankee Stadium during Lou’s farewell speech in 1939 brought tears to the eye of every baseball fan. There have been famous teammates before and since, but none come close to the talent and achievements as Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig.

Accordingly, nothing in the hobby today celebrates this dynamic duo more than a dual-signed ball. The pair frequently made appearances and played in countless exhibition games together, leaving many outstanding dual signed balls, but this example is something special. The two Yankees legends have signed this Spalding Official League ball in a some-what unorthodox fashion not seen on many Ruth-Gehrig balls. Usually the Babe took the sweet spot for himself, with Lou signing a side panel. However, this ball has both men signing the sweet spot, Lou to the left and the Babe off to the right. Their signing in this fashion makes the display appeal of this ball through the roof as both are easily viewed without having to move the ball. The ball shows surface scuffing and toning and the pair have signed in black fountain pen. A rarely seen dual Ruth-Gehrig sweet spot-signed ball that would be the center piece of any advanced collection. The ball comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA for the signatures.
