Offered is a Barry Sanders signature and inscription on a full-size Detroit Lions football helmet. The two-time National Football League Offensive Player of the Year has signed his name in blue marker on the silver helmet, and inscribed “HOF-04” below his signature. Sanders has inscribed “The Lion King” above the silver facemask. The Riddell Speedflex helmet has matching Lions logo decals in royal blue and white on either side of the helmet and royal blue stripe decals down the center. The helmet has “Lions” in royal blue on the white front plastic plate, and “Detroit” at the back, a white leather chinstrap and black inflatable padding on the interior. Sanders joined the Lions in 1989 and had an immediate impact, winning the NFL's Rookie of the Year award. Through 10 seasons in Detroit, he averaged over 1,500 rushing yards per season and just under 100 rushing yards per game. In 1997, he became the third player to rush for over 2,000 yards in a season and was named the NFL Most Valuable Player. Sanders led the NFL in rushing yards four times and established himself as one of the most elusive runners in pro football with his quickness and agility.
