William Harold “Bill” Terry held down first base for the NY Giants for 14 seasons (1923 – 1936). He was a lifetime .341 hitter, who batted .401 for the 1930 season, the last National Leaguer to do so. Ranked in 1999 by The Sporting News as baseball’s 59th best player in the top 100, Terry was elected into the Hall of Fame in 1954. This pristine, 34-inch, Model K-55 Hillerich & Bradsby Co. Louisville “Slugger” bat resembles that which “Memphis Bill” used during his career. Minor smudges and himpressions can be found on the varnish and in the backside of the barrel. The knob is engraved with “016.” Terry boldly signed on the barrel’s sweet spot in vivid blue Sharpie, “W H (Bill) Terry/ HOF 1930 .401” (grade 9 - 10). A COA from PSA/DNA (#S73049) accompanies this item.
