Hall of Famer and baseball’s Ironman Cal Ripken, Jr. reached the 2,000-hit milestone during the July 10th, 1993 game against the Chicago White Sox at Camden Yards. Facing Wilson Alvarez, Ripken singled to center field to lead off the bottom of the second inning. This offered Louisville Slugger P72 model bat is the very bat Ripken used to reach the 2,000-hit mark and it comes directly from Cal’s personal collection. As would be expected from a bat used by Ripken, this displays outstanding game use with numerous ball marks, blue ink transfers and white leather scuffs present on the barrel. This bat, which has a slight crack on the handle, also has some checking or grain swelling on the back barrel. The handle has a light coating of pine tar and the knob has Ripken’s number “8” handwritten in black marker. Ripken has noted the historical significance of this bat by putting “2000” on in black marker o the lower handle. A tremendous gamer from one of baseball’s greatest and most iconic players which is tied to a milestone achievement. This bat comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. and a signed LOA from Cal will accompany this bat. Additionally, there is a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B19697) for the game use and has been given the highest possible grade of GU 10.
