Over 17 big league campaigns, Pittsburgh’s Pie Traynor averaged a lofty .320 average with seven seasons of 100 or more RBI. From 1926 to 1934 Pie averaged .308 while leading the Pirates to a pennant as well as being named the team’s player-manager. Traynor was the first third baseman ever elected to the Hal of Fame and is still regarded as the best to have ever manned the hot corner. This bat was discovered at a Chicago area antique mall and MEARS has opined that this bat was likely used by Traynor during a Pirates game at Wrigley Field. The Spalding Hand Turn 200 model bat is un-cracked and shows heavy game use. Many ball marks are visible on the barrel and slight checking from repeated ball contact is present. Cleat impressions are on the barrel and there is a slight discoloration on the handle. A very desirable bat from Pirates legend and Hall of Famer Pie Traynor. This bat comes with a LOA from MEARS (315709) for the game use and has been graded a solid A6.5.
