After playing just a single year of minor league ball down on the Cardinals farm, Albert Pujols ran away with the 2001 National League Rookie of the Year award. The future member of the 600 Home Run Club mashed 37 longballs in his rookie campaign, adding 130 RBI and a sky-high .329 batting average for the 93-69 Cardinals. The young slugger used this bat during his rookie season batting practice sessions while he honed the swing that would take him to Cooperstown. Albert’s rookie season Carolina Clubs Pro Model bat shows several prominent ball marks that include ink transfers and leather ball scuffs. There are many bat rack paint streaks on all sides, and both ends show abrasions from contact with the ground. The handle has a light coat of pine tar and the knob and barrel ends have Pujols’ number “5” handwritten in black marker. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA for the game use.
