In his 12th NFL season, Drew Brees is already one of the most prolific passers in NFL history, setting the single season record last year for passing yards in a season (5476) while at same time setting the record for completions and completion percentage, as well as the fastest passer with 40,000 yards. On Sunday October 7th he broke Johnny Unitas' 52 year old record by passing for a touchdown in 48 consecutive games. Brees will forever be remembered for leading the Saints to victory in Super Bowl XLIV vs Peyton Manning and the favored Colts, as well as his charity work within the city of New Orleans. What we present here, is from the start of that great career; to be more specific, the EXACT START. Brees was taken by the Chargers with the 1st pick of the 2nd round of the 2001 draft. Brees finally got his chance to play in a game on Nov 4 vs Chiefs after starting QB Doug Flutie was knocked out of the game with a concussion. Down 19-0, Brees led a furious comeback with the Chargers scoring 20 unanswered points to take a 20-19 lead. The Chargers lost that day, but Brees completed 15 of 27 passes for 221 yards and one TD, with no interceptions; giving us a glimpse of the future. We offer for sale, the jersey from that very day.
