With a perfect career record of 50-0, Floyd “Money” Mayweather is one of the most dominant athletes in the history of American sports. Mayweather seamlessly jumped between weight classes during his lengthy pro career, winning title belts while fighting at five different weights. Perhaps the most impressive part of Mayweather’s career were his opponents, many of whom rank among the greatest boxers in recent memory. Mayweather fought especially notable bouts against Oscar De La Hoya, Manny Pacquiao, Miguel Cotto, Canelo Alvarez, and more, with the final fight of his career coming against the mixed martial arts sensation Conor McGregor.

Mayweather was marked for stardom early after losing a contentious decision against the Bulgarian brawler Serafim Todorov in the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics while fighting as an amateur. This was the last defeat of Mayweather’s professional career, which ended in 2017. His professional debut followed in October of 1996, when Mayweather started to build himself into one of the most fearsome boxers to ever grace the ring.

Offered here is a pair of signed Cleto Reyes boxing gloves worn by Mayweather during the early portion of his professional career, circa 1996-2000. Mayweather fought 24 times in that time span, going 24-0 while defeating Genaro Hernandez in 1998 to earn the WBC and lineal featherweight titles, his first championship accolades. These red gloves weigh eight ounces each, and both feature white tape around the wrists. An oval “Hecho en Mexico” stamp is present on the top of each glove. A tag inside each wrist reads “Piel de Res” and the underside of each thumb is white. These gloves display moderate to excellent use. Mayweather has signed the top of each glove in black marker. These gloves come with a pair of LOAs from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A76042, A76043) and a LOA from WBC Authentication (MP46560) for the signatures. There is a LOA from Travis Roste for the fight use and a separate letter of provenance on how the gloves were obtained.
