In 2012, the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was appointed a Global Cultural Ambassador for the United States by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. The goal of Abdul-Jabbar’s appointment was to “[engage] young people worldwide” and “to use people-to-people diplomacy as a means to create opportunities for greater understanding” according to the Department of State press release included in this offered framed display. Displayed on either side of the press release are letters typed letters from Hillary and Bill Clinton to Kareem. Hillary’s letter is typed on official Secretary of State stationary, and it has been signed in blue fine-tip marker as “Hillary”, however this signature is an autopen version.  The second letter in this display is typed on “William Jefferson Clinton” letterhead, and it has been signed by the former President in black marker as “Bill”. This item is displayed in a 28 x 16-inch frame and it is accompanied by a LOA signed by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
