Arguably the greatest basketball team ever assembled the 1992 USA Basketball Team “The Dream Team” steamrolled through the rest of the world en route to the gold medal in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain. Winning by an average margin of 44 points, the first ever collection of NBA All Stars (plus the top collegiate player – Christian Laettner) featured Michael Jordan, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson, Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Clyde Drexler, Karl Malone, John Stockton, David Robinson, Scottie Pippen and Chris Mullin (along with Laettner), re-established the United States as the premier basketball nation, following the disappointing Bronze medal at the previous Olympics in Seoul, Korea in 1988. Michael Jordan wore these size 13 Nike Air Jordan 7 sneakers for this historic team during the Olympic Games in Barcelona, where he averaged 14.9 points per game. The sneakers were specifically designed for Jordan to use in the Olympics as his number “9” is on the back of the shoe, his number he wore for Team USA. This design was only made for Jordan to wear in the Olympics as these were not available to the public or manufactured for any other player. The white shoes, with the red and blue trim, have the gold “AIR JORDAN” embroidered on the blue tongue, with Jordan’s Air Jordan trademark silhouette embroidered on the outside of each sneaker. The shoes display heavy game use with abrasions and soiling. The tongue code (920112FT2) is sewn on the inside of each shoe. This item comes with a full LOA from Mears, who have verified these shoes originated from a teammate of Jordan's who wished to remain anonymous.
