As Yankees catcher from 1969-1979, Thurman Munson was he heart and soul of the Yankees. Munson was elected to the All Star team seven times and as Captain lead the Yankees to Two World Series Championships in 1977 and 1978.  Having been denied entry to the Hall of Fame until now due to his limited years in the league prior to his tragic death, in 2020 Munsons’ candidacy will have resurgence as he will appear on the Modern Era Committee’s ballot for the first time and we may soon see Munsons’ plaque on the walls in Cooperstown.  Munson’s rare items such as single signed baseballs have soared in value over the past few years, particularly those in high grade conditions.  His signed bat’s are virtually non-existent with this one being one of the few known examples.

The offered Hillerich & Bradsby S44 model bat has been made game ready by Munson with his number "15" handwritten in black marker on the knob, has some bat racks marks but shows no evidence of game use. Munson, one of the more elusive signers in recent history, has not only autographed the barrel but added a lengthy inscription that reads, "To DiMag a hell of a Man. Makes a stay in Cleveland a little bit nicer. Thank You Thurman Munson." The signature and inscription are in very strong black marker that just leaps off the surface of the stunning game-ready bat. This bat is one of the most significant Thurman Munson bats ever to come to surface in the hobby. The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B18197) for the game ready status and a LOA from LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication for the signature (A25513).
