When you think of the greatest baseball team of all-time, 9 times out of 10 the 1927 Yankees comes to mind first. With a power-hitting lineup so deadly it was called “Murderer’s Row,” this iconic team hit a combined 110 home runs, setting a new AL record and winning the pennant by 19 games. Ruth, of course, hit 60 homers that year and Lou Gehrig won his first MVP Award, but what made the 1927 Yankees such a powerhouse was their deep bench and light’s out pitching staff. While Ruth, Combs and Meusel were the regular outfielders, Miller Huggins could also sleep easy knowing he had Ben Paschal and Cedric Durst, starters on any other team, waiting in reserve.

Ruth, of course, was the highlight of that historic team, as he set the mark for single-season home runs with 60 – a record that would not be broken until the last game of the 1961 season by Roger Maris. Ruth signed items are the pinnacle of any collector’s memorabilia collection, but items signed by Ruth from the historic 1927 put them at another level. Such as the case with this incredible item offered here. This 20 x 32 ¾-inch framed piece showcases Ruth’s historic home run record setting season and has been signed and inscribed by the Bambino himself, with a note to teammate Joe Dugan. Centering this framed piece is a 9 x 13-inch black and white photo of Ruth at the plate adorned in his full home Yankees’ uniform shown in a follow through. Ruth signed his name in a stunning bold black steel-tipped fountain pen inscribing “To My friends + Pals Mr. + Mrs. Dugan From Babe Ruth Dec 25th 1928”. Surrounding the photo are symmetrically placed baseball images detailing the 60 home runs Ruth hit in 1927, the pitchers he hit them off of and the dates. “6” is in big print on the left and “0” is in big print on the right with “19” and “27” on the bottom with two baseballs documenting the two home runs Ruth hit in the 1927 World Series. The frame displays minor scratches and abrasions, but the Ruth signature is flawless. This comes with a LOA from Beckett Authentication, who have graded Ruth’s signature its highest grade of GEM MINT 10, plus a LOA from JSA (BB11857).
